FINAL LEARNING TO CARE WORKSHOP OF 2019
DISCIPLINE FOR CHILDREN FROM TRAUMA: RESPONDING TO CHALLENGING BEHAVIORS
Join us on Monday, November 18, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for our last Learning to Care Workshop in 2019. Whitney White, International Education Counselor with Lifeline Children’s Services, will be sharing practical ideas for disciplining children while still maintaining feelings of safety and security and focusing on attachment. There are a wide array of parenting tactics that seem to work for a child with typical, healthy beginnings but for an at-risk child who has experienced compromised beginnings the bar is raised for parents. Whitney has experience providing parenting assistance and working with children and adults facing attachment challenges, trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, anger, and marital difficulties. Whitney is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) Practioner and uses Theraplay® principles in her work with children and families.
This course is free and provides two CEUs if needed. Free childcare is also available.

FINAL ADOPTIVE PARENT GATHERINGS OF 2019
We have two more Adoptive Parent Gatherings planned for 2019, so put these special nights on your calendar. These informal evenings will provide an opportunity for local adoptive parents to find community and share with one another.
OCTOBER GATHERING
Our next gathering will occur on Monday, October 28, from 7:30-9:00 p.m. To register, follow this link to register. This night will be a great opportunity to gather with others, ask questions, give advice, and learn from one another. Prospective adoptive parents are always invited to engage and learn from those a few seasons ahead on this journey. We hope you’ll join us.
NOVEMBER GATHERING
We have something really special planned for our final gathering of the year. On Monday, November 25, we will gather together and host an adult adoptee. We have listened to adoptive parents share how impactful it is when given the opportunity to listen to adult adoptees, so we are excited to share this opportunity with our community. Come. Listen. Foster Care News
CLARKE AND OCONEE FOSTER FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY
Each year, Chosen for Life Ministries has the privilege of hosting the DFCS Christmas Party for all foster families in Clarke/Oconee counties. Families are able to gather together over dinner and fellowship while children enjoy games, crafts, face painting, and more. The holiday season can be especially difficult for children who are spending Christmas away from their families. Our prayer is that this night is one that brings joy and hope to families and children in our community.
Last year we received this message after the Christmas Party,
“There is nothing you all do that is mediocre. Everything is 110%. Amazing. Awesome. Uplifting. Full. It fills us. It encourages us to continue to run the race marked out for us, to what God has called us to do!! Again you all may think oh it's just a Christmas party......but it is SO MUCH more than that!!!”
