Meet Danny Stevens, our volunteer spotlight this month! Danny currently serves on our Board of Directors and teaches at our education events for adoptive and foster parents. We asked him a few questions about his experience volunteering with Chosen for Life Ministries, and his answers will just make your day!
Occupation: Social Work/Education
Volunteer Position: Board Member
How did you first get involved with CFLM: I saw a flyer about a CFLM meeting and immediately called to ask if and how quickly I could get involved!
What is your favorite memory from volunteering: I can't say that I have a favorite memory - I have fond memories of all of the Both Hands events, the conferences, the Foster Care Initiative, etc. Most of all, I fondly recall the camaraderie of the volunteers, Board Members, and families as we work for children.
What has surprised you most about working with CFLM: I don't know it's as much of a surprise as it is just sheer appreciation - I appreciate and admire the dedication and passion of the board members and volunteers involved with CFLM. The passion each person has for orphans and the passion each person has shown in finding their most appropriate role in helping orphans and their families is incredibly inspiring.
What makes volunteering with CFLM meaningful for you: I've worked in the adoption and foster care field for over 30 years... having the opportunity to continue to work with children affected by foster care and adoption through CFLM is very meaningful for me.
What is one of your hidden talents: Wow, that's a tough one - I hope that one of my hidden talents is the ability to see the good in each person.
How did people describe you in your high school yearbook: Caring, fun, passionate, hard-working!
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go: Anywhere that my wife and/or daughters are present!
Danny is an incredibly valuable member of our Chosen for Life Family! Our Executive Director, Mary Lee Herron, said the following about Danny's impact on our organization:
"Danny's desire to offer hope and support to children and families everywhere is contagious! We all love having him as a CFLM Board Member representing our mission so well and motivating everyone around him to care for those in our community, too!"
