Is My Family Different?

Monday, September 19th was a wonderful night of fellowship and learning as many foster and adoptive families joined us at our Learning to Care Workshop (our educational workshops provided every other month)! Our very own Board Member, Danny Stevens, taught on "Is My Family Different? A Look at the Dynamics of Adoptive and Foster Families." He shared incredible stories and examples from his professional experiences that demonstrate how difficult it can be for adoptive and foster children to understand their role within a family. Additionally, he provided encouraging examples of how parents can understand and better care for the children in their homes.

Thank you to all of the families who spent their Monday evening learning more about how to navigate the dynamic of adoptive and foster families so that you will be better equipped to care for the children that become part of your family! We would also like to thank the many childcare volunteers who gave these families the opportunity to learn without distraction while their children were being cared for!

We believe these workshops are a great resource for families to make use of throughout the year. Through these events, we welcome you to learn from experts in their fields, network with other families, and earn foster parent CEU credits. If you would like to learn more about our upcoming Learning to Care Workshops, visit www.chosenforlifeathens.com/education to sign up for the Listserv to receive updates every time a new educational opportunity is scheduled!

Thanks to Danny Stevens for sharing his wisdom with us, Redeemer Presbyterian for sharing their space with us, and Faith Pres. and Grace Athens for providing childcare!
